It saddens me everytime I hear about a family being torn apart do to the fall of the father. It is a story that occurs far too often in today’s society. Adultery being the main culprit, men are losing the battle against the devil. We are dishonoring our wives and withholding our love. We are giving in to all of the devil’s wickedness, aligning ourselves with the lust of this world, instead of seeking the kingdom of God. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalties, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness in this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Eph 6:12). The devil is cunning and strategic in all his ways and he knows that if he can corrupt and decieve the father/husband, that he can destroy the family. A devastating event that can produce a rippling effect through generations to come. What we as men must understand is that an enemy DOES exist and his ultimate goal, as it pertains to the family is to destroy it. A family that loves the Lord, that hears and abides in the word of God is one of the greatest threats to our advisary the devil. So he seeks to destroy it by attacking the Father, the spiritual leader of the home. It’s no surprise that the world we live in is geared towards seducing and corrupting men. Taking advantage of their youthful lust, encouraging them to sleep with as many women as possible. The only way to successfully lead your family and overcome the wiles of the devil is by abandoning this world and all of its sinful allures and surrendering to Christ. To be the spiritual leader that God intended you to be. To pick up your cross, to crucify your flesh and follow Jesus. For it is written to love the world is to hate the father. James (4:4). So you have to decide to whom you will ultimately serve. Make no mistake, becoming a Christian is not an easy journey. From the moment you wield your cross, you are entering into battle. You are now opposed to Satan and he will try everything in his power to defeat you. But fear not, for you are not alone. For you have the word of God and the Holy spirit who dwells in you. Greater is He who is in you then he who is in the world. (1John 4:4). You already have victory in Christ, so choose life and lead your family as God would have you.
