Wednesday we spent time with Jesus. He taught us further about the kingdom of God and how we are to treat one another. Later in the evening we ate in the home Simon the Leper. Jesus again spoke of his coming death and again we were all confused.
A woman there approached Jesus and anointed him with a very expensive perfume! A perfume that could’ve been sold for a lot of money. Many of his close disciples did not approve. No one was more angrier than Judas. Jesus quickly silenced them and said, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her. ”
I returned to Jerusalem that night to visit my family. I reflected on all that had happened and what Jesus had spoken. The rest of my night was peaceful but something happened that night that was rather strange to me. As I was returning to Bethany I saw Jesus disciple Judas leaving the temple. Why was he at the temple? And why so late? Who was he meeting with?
