The Cost

“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.”

Mark 8:35 NKJV.

How many of us wholeheartedly desire to be a disciple of Christ? How many of us are willing to lose some of are closest friends to follow Jesus? How many of us are willing to be alienated from our family for Jesus sake? What about losing our job or a loss of reputation for Christ? Are you willing to surrender everything to follow Jesus?

Make no mistake, following Jesus comes with a cost. It will cause division in your life. Jesus himself tells us ““Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’;”

Matthew 10:34-35 NKJV

Do not misinterpret this verse by believing that Jesus is endorsing anger or hatred amongst a family, surely that is not His desire. He’s trying to convey the message that you cannot serve both this world and God, for they are opposite. You must choose. You have to draw a line. And the drawing of a line, similar to a sword will result in division amongst some of our closest relationships.

It isn’t easy, but it’s worth it.

Jesus explains it this way “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” Matthew 13:44 NKJV

“For Joy!” A man was so joyful and excited about what he found that he went and gave up everything just to keep it!

Following Jesus will cost you in this life but all the so-called cost and so-called loses are nothing compared to the gains of having Jesus, the greatest treasure ❤️ #Heisworthy #Jesus #disciple #Love #Christian #God #Holyspirit #idefinefatherhood #marriage
