Irritable Not

Are you known by your temper? Are you irritable, easily provoked and quick to lash out? Do people feel they have to walk on eggshells around you because your anger precedes you?

No one wants to be in the company of someone who is always close to the edge of exploding. Scripture tells us that anger does not produce the righteousness of God (James 1:20). So if you’re constantly giving in to your anger and are easily provoked it’s time to take a second and reassess the situation.

My temper was one of my biggest challenges that I had to overcome. Indeed I prayed about it. And in all honesty I haven’t mastered it yet, but I’m happy to say, that because of God’s word it now takes a lot for me to be pushed over the edge.

I use to take offense to everything, but it’s different now.

I’ve learned to control my anger as well as my tongue. Even when someone bad mouths me or hurts my feelings, I’ve learned not to be so quick to react.

It’s the worst when the one who has wronged you is your family or someone close, but it takes discipline aka the Lord’s training to rise above that and even more training to be able to express your feelings without losing control or being mean.

Let us who call Jesus Lord not be known by our quick temper.

Let us instead be known by our love, our composure and our forgiveness.

A fool gives full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end (Proverbs 29:11).
